Children’s Ministry

Ministry to the children of the Refuge is available during Sunday Worship service.

Matthew 18:2-5 – He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3 And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 “And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.

There are a number of purposes for children’s ministry.

1.     Opportunities for Members of the Church Body to Serve God

Ministry to children provides members of the church body the opportunity to serve God in a very important and life impacting way.

This ministry is an opportunity for “greatness” in the eyes of our great God and results in the greatest of joys.

2.     Importance of Ministering to the Children

Ministering to children is just as important as any other ministry in the church. The scriptures point out many truths about the importance of caring for and loving children.

It is very important for children to have the right understanding of God, Church, and The Word. Children’s ministry teachers have the privilege of developing a child’s view of church and what it means to be, and live like, a Christian.

3.     To Help Form Jesus into Their Character

Christian and secular psychologists agree that a child’s basic character is formed in the first 5 to 7 years of life. We have the opportunity and honor of helping to form Jesus into a child’s character.

Timothy learned about Jesus from him mother and grandmother as a young child and this knowledge led to his coming to faith in Jesus Christ.

“… and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3:15

4.     To Provide Parents with the Opportunity to Receive Ministry

In addition to ministering to the children, this ministry also provides parents with the opportunity to be fed.

When parents feel confident about dropping off their child with our teachers – when they know that their child is going to be loved, cared for, and ministered to – they can attend service and give their full attention to what God wants to do in their lives.

You not only minister to the children but to the parents as well.
